We were so happy to find a full featured server with
excellent tech staff and we know you will be too! The details of each
feature enumerated on our hosting page are explained below. Many are available
with the FREE 1 (One-time setup fee) deal, but you may want more for your
growing web especially for commerce and programming, so check out the
deals and see just "what u get"!
Setup:
Setup means we handle your domain name
setup onto our servers. It includes registration or transfer of your
domain with the Internic, setting you up on our servers with your own
control panel for your account.
Email Addresses:
Email addresses may be set up a POP boxes which
can store mail (access with mail program such as Outlook or Messenger
or Eudora), or email aliases which forward your mail to another mailbox
on or off of your account, or for autoresponce.
Disk Space (MB):
Disk space is measured in Megabytes (MB).
This is one-thousand Kilobytes or 1 million bytes! Even 1 MB is a lot
of space and some websites are smaller than this. However, a large website
with many graphics may use much more space.
Data Transfer:
How much traffic will you be having per month?
If you get many hits, you will use more MB of data transfer.
True Domain Name:
These domain names (like "www.yourdomainname.com")
are true. The browser isn't tricked into going to a certain directory
for your web. You get your own unique IP address.
Static IP Address:
The IP address of your site will not change.
Some servers do not allow this using one IP address for many domains.
You can use your IP number for FTPing files or ping because it is unique.
This is why you will get a true domain name.
Free Domain Registration:
We will send in your registration form for your
domain name to Internic for you. You will be billed for your annual
fees separately.
File Manager:
You do not need special software to manipulate
your files on our servers. You can use the File Manager for creation,
deletion and moving files, even for uploading files from your computer
to the server. You can even edit the HTML in any of your files from
the manager.
Archive Manager:
This manager will allow you to backup and zip
(compress) your files. You can select the files and make a backup "zip"
file that contains all of them.
FTP:
File Transfer Protocol (FTP) is how you get files
onto the server (upload) or obtain files from the server (download).
If you use software to maintain your website it probably uses FTP. (Adobe
PageMill, Allaire HomeSite, CyberStudio, Dreamweaver (Macromedia), GoLive,
HotDog, HotMetal Pro, Netscape Composer, NetObjects Fusion).
Telnet(SSH):
Telnet is a way to interact on the Linux server
through a shell. Most people will not have a need or interest to ever
utilize this option, but for those who do, it is very useful. To maintain
our security we have certain rules relating to this access. To request
Telnet access, the user must send a fax with a copy of their photo ID.
You also need an RSA Key entered into your control panel to access it
only using SSH software.
